NMSU DEVASTHALI HALL
Las Cruces, NM
The new University Gateway complex replaces outdated facilities and completely transforms the NMSU Devasthali Hall and University Art Museum . The building’s organization and design supports cross pollination of disciplines through collaboration and interaction of students and faculty. The 54,000 sf facility is organized in two “wings”; one for studios and classrooms and the other for gallery spaces. A two story exhibition hallway connects the two wings, creates student display, and establishes a dynamic portal between University Avenue and the Main Campus. An exterior working yard provides outdoor studio space and provides shelter for tools and equipment that support fabrication. The building’s interior benefits hugely from abundant windows that provide outside awareness, natural light and views.
